My name is Alda and I am a writer, journalist, commentator, and consultant on all things Iceland.
It is also my mission to correct all misinformation there is about Iceland on the Internet. That should keep me busy for the next few decades.
I have written six books, all of which deal with Iceland in one way or another. Two of those have been translated into a bunch of languages. You can check out a selection of English-language titles below, but for the full list you’ll have to click here.
I used to write a blog called The Iceland Weather Report, which at the time of the 2008 economic meltdown became one of the main English-language news sources out of Iceland. Subsequently I began writing for foreign media outlets and became the Icelandic correspondent for the Associated Press. I also travelled overseas to give talks on the Icelandic situation, was a frequent commentator in the foreign media, and provided various consultation services. An overview of my engagements and interviews at that time may be found here, and there are some testimonials here.
These days I am mostly focused on writing and promoting my books. I also give talks from time to time on various things relating to Iceland.
