Translations

A good translator does not merely translate words, but rather essence and meaning. One of the main challenges a translator faces is how far he or she can depart from the actual words, to communicate the true sense of the text. In my experience, every document requires re-telling to a greater or lesser degree. That is true for all types of texts: annual reports in business, academic texts, legal documents, literary translations, and more.

I have over 18 years’ experience in translations from Icelandic to English. My projects have included books, novels, scripts, articles, brochures, websites, and much more.

My most recent translation project was the novel On the Cold Coasts (original title: Galdur) by Vilborg Davíðsdóttir, published by Amazon Crossing in spring 2012.

A list of some of my clients may be found here.

Please note that I translate from Icelandic to English only, and I can work in either British or American English.
